ronery

April 13, 2009 by birdpress

So ronery…
So ronery and sadry arone… ♫

Ever since watching Team America, I have been unable to properly pronounce “lonely”.  Do other people do this?

Here I sit with my laptop in bed.  I normally don’t take it to bed with me, but Josh is sleeping in the guest room for a week.  We are not fighting, although it kind of feels that way.  Actually, he has been having chronic sinus problems for months now and is testing his theory that it could be an allergy to the tempurpedic bed, since it started not too long after we got it.  I really hope it isn’t the bed. I rove the bed.

Before living with Josh, like a hundred years ago, I could never sleep with another person in my bed. Not that I didn’t ever have guys over, but if I did I’d just be a total bitch and kick them out when it was time to go home. (I may have been a tad bit psychotic territorial.)

I also never used to go to bed at a reasonable hour.  Josh goes to bed really early though, and in an attempt to be a good wife, I usually go to bed when he does and watch TV until I fall asleep.  So he’s been good for me that way.  When I’m by myself though, I can’t seem to let myself relax enough to just sleep.  I have to read or do something to keep my mind busy.  I have to be falling asleep doing something before I can lie down and close my eyes.  I don’t know why that is.

So, what do all you insomniacs do on the computer late at night?  Cause I know some of you are on here pretty late.  I’ve already read everyone’s blogs and watched lots of youtube videos and memorized all the words to the Mariner’s Revenge Song.  (I’ve been singing this in my sleep.) Any other ideas?

I love these guys:

I’m either on twitter or iTunes late at night. I just don’t have the brain energy to read blog posts that time of night.

So instead I make random purchases on iTunes that I wouldn’t if I wasn’t so tired.

Oh yeah, we can’t even be safe from the impulse-shopping while we are at home nowadays! LOL.

LOL I blog into the wee hours of the am if I can’t sleep. And spend a LOT of time on youtube. You can find just about anything on there. I’ve found whole episodes of old shows and movies. WOO HOO! MOTHER LOAD!

Yeah, youtube is all kinds of awesome. :)

I am a severe insomniac and there are times it gets so bad I do not sleep for days. I take melatonin, it is natural and works good just don’t take more than one at a time. Try not to spend more than 30 minutes at a time in your bed tossing and turning it will eventually let your body know that the bed is for that instead of sleeping. I usually get up and wonder the house, check email, check my blog or read. I have been like this since high school and it sucks but you learn to live with it.

I hate to be touched in my sleep in my bed at night. So Tooters who comes into my room after midnight is really good at staying on her side of the bed so I do not even know she is there most of the time. I think this touching this is from the abuse from my ex. He attacked me in bed a few times.

Anyways on a lighter note there is an award for you at my place. I am still trying to get the image on there.

Thank you for the award! I just went there and commented too. That sucks about your ex. What a total jackass. I have taken melatonin off and on for years. I try not to take it too much though because I worry about messing with hormones and crap.

    I hulu.com, tvshack.com, and luuit.com!

I feer ronery sometimes at night, too!

Here’s hoping Josh’s sinus probrem is NOT rerated to the Tempurpedic bed! That would suck!

ROR!! I ROVED this video! How did you rearn arr the words? That’s a RONG song!!!!

HAHAHAAA! This comment totally cracked me up. :D And yeah, isn’t that video awesome? They are all so talented. I memorized most of the words like a year ago, but recently found this live version of it and just love it, so I watched it a few times and I think I know all the words now. (And damn, it keeps getting stuck in my head!) I also remember reading somewhere that their recorded version of this song was done in one take too.

When I first saw your headline, I thought you meant ornery. LOL!

My Mom can’t pronounce Almanac, no matter how many times she tries.

But the bed thing! I had written about our tempurpedic bed we bought. It was the kind you put on top of your matress. It was heaven at first! How you sink into it, and nothing poking at you, like you were on a cloud. The first week even our aches and pains seemed to disappear.

Then a few weeks later the headaches started, sinus problems and it felt like every joint and muscle was sore. We couldn’t understand why, but ended up taking it off our bed.

In a matter of days we started feeling better. It mad me so mad because after taxes it was just under 200 dollars and I didn’t want to just throw it away! But I had to. There was no way I could live with myself and give it to someone else.

I did find a forum where a bunch of people had the same complaints, but that was so long ago. If I find it again, I’ll let you know.

I go through bouts of not being able to sleep. I usually search the web for interesting things or play games until my eyes hurt so much I have to sleep!

As for the song, I had never heard of this band. I loved it!! I didn’t think I had it in me to listen to an 8 minute song! LOL! Thanks for sharing.

Oh no, really? About the Tempurpedic thing. If that is the case, there better be a way to get our money back. It cost WAY more than the topper thing cost, unfortunately. :(

I think a lot of people might see eight minutes and not watch the video, but isn’t it so worth it? :D I have their newest CD playing in my car right now, but this one is still my favorite song of theirs. The new CD just got me thinking of them and made me want to listen to their older stuff again.

I would comment about sleep but it’s hard for me because I work full time nights- When I have a few days off I feel exhausted during the day and try to fight the urge to nap otherwise I’ll be staring at the ceiling all night long with eyes wide open!

Usually the urge to nap during the day wins out and I find myself up at night, but I’m too tired to play on the internet, and not tired enough to go to bed.

Or, on my days off, I’m lucky if I fight off the nap- but then I’m in bed by 6:30pm – out cold- snoring and the whole nine yards.

I hope Josh finds out what’s causing his his sinus problems! Me, I’ve been dealing w/ sinus issues since the week before Christmas. Time to go to the Dr. again! The pain and pressure is just too much.

Trisha’s comment *ROR* steals the prize. Gawd, you two are funny!

If you work nights, aren’t you supposed to still keep your sleeping habits during your days off? That would be really rough, I think. I don’t know how people work nights for so long. Maybe I could do it for a few months, but not as long as you have.

  7. on April 15, 2009 at 10:29 am Josh

Ahhh…I used to have terrible sleep problems. But I work at night so of course I’m on. But its those days when I’m supposed to be asleep and am up instead that gets to me. Those come once in a blue moon.

You work at night? Where do you work now?

  8. on April 15, 2009 at 6:00 pm widdleshamrock

I used to stay up all hours. Then I had kids. So I force myself to bed now, so I don’t pay for it the next day.

I am a youtube addict. I am also currently obsessing over Supernatural, so scour the internet for Sam and Dean stuff.

I don’t know who Sam and Dean are. I’m getting to be a youtube addict though.

The interwebs are a possibly infinite timesuck. Beware my blogfriends!! You need your sleep.

    ROR is effing BRILLIANT!!

Thanks for the Decembrists link. Been meaning to buy some of their stuff …

I like the word “timesuck”! ROR. And yeah, get their new CD. It just came out in April. It is called The Hazards of Love. Their old stuff is still great too though.

If you had blogged this on the 16th, I’d have said, “Hey, let’s chat!”

But, my chat client won’t send text back in time…

    Bummer!

I don’t know what this comment means. :?

I am on the computer late almost every night! I love to look at everyone’s blogs. I feel like a lot of these people have become friends and I like seeing what’s going on with them. While I’m doing that — I am listening to my 85 year old mother shuffling around out in the kitchen. She is a night owl as well. Maybe worse — since she is usually still up when I hit the sack!

At least you aren’t alone at night then. What does SHE do so late at night?

  12. on April 17, 2009 at 8:32 pm teeni

Awww, I’m so sorry that you lost your bedmate for a bit. I guess it is a good test to see if the bed is what is bothering him though. I am not as up as late as I used to be all the time now that I’m going to school, but I still read and do a little Sudoku before bed every night.

Anyway, here’s to hoping your roneriness doesn’t rast too rong.

Gah, how can you think well enough to do Sudoku at night? You are better than me! :P

I loved, loved loved Team America. OMG!

    Ha ha, me too! :)

Sometimes if I am willing to risk an all-out sleepless night I surf the /b/ forums ;)

    What are /b/ forums?? :?

  15. on April 20, 2009 at 9:43 pm Josh

    “Hans Blix! Ohhhh Nooooo…”

“You’re bustin’ my balls, Hans Blix! You’re Bustin’ my Balls!”

And the /b/ forums? lol. Wow. 4Chan.

  16. on April 29, 2009 at 11:23 am Emerald

Haha, well it’s not for the faint of heart, and why I only browse as opposed to participate. It’s basically the deepest darkest corner of the internet where all the weirdos come out to, well…be weird, I guess? It’s kind of like thinking “Yeah, today sure did suck. But at least I’m not *that* guy who enjoys his star wars figurines just a little too much!”

Anyhee, you gots yourself an award over at my place :D

Uh, yeah, my curiosity got the better of me and I figured out what you were talking about.
    :?

You are a bit quiet. Just dropping in to make sure you are ok.

Thanks for checking on me! I’m okay, just have had my mind elsewhere. Sorry. :)

I am jealous. A Tempurpedic! Damn. I also covet the Sleep Number beds because they promote individuality. Very American that.

Mr. SB snores like a damn freight train, and I am a light sleeper and have periodic insomnia. I wish I had some hot tips on how to remedy insomnia and get some damn sleep, but all I can think of is Ambien and red wine. LOL.

Thanks for checking out my site today. I will certainly be reading more of yours.

    Best,

    SB

Thanks for stopping by, SB! Sorry you caught me in a boring streak. ;) The bed was our awesome wedding gift. Turns out that wasn’t the problem (YAY!) so we get to keep it. I’m adding you to my globroll, okay?

  19. on April 30, 2009 at 6:53 pm Scott

I’m not really an insomniac–just a late-to-bed, late-to-rise guy. But I usually spend most of the night reading blogs.
Still, when I am ready to sleep, instead of reading a book, I listen to my shortwave radio. This is especially helpful because I can do it with the lights off (it has programmable tuning), and I know which buttons to press, simply by touch. I pick up different stations, at different times. Right now, I get Radio Australia, Radio Havana Cuba, Radio Venezuela, China Radio–and an unknown station that broadcasts in Chinese(?). Radio Australia is fascinating, of course. But often I switch to one of the non-English channels, before turning the shortwave off. Since English is my native language, I am too often distracted by the meanings of the words–so I listen to a foreign language, which is more soothing.

That’s a really interesting idea, listening to another language to soothe you to sleep! :)

Thans for adding me to the globroll, Birdpress. I have done the same for you.

    Have a great weekend!

    Love,

    SB

Okay, first, I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT THE /B/ forums are? Please inform or I could die. I accidentally went onto someone’s blog once who was this very unassuming doctor dude and he had links to porn that made me F*CKING sick, so I’m guessing something in that realm . . .

I am often up until 4 or 5 a.m., it’s my normal sleep pattern at this point. I have an elf who stays up with me most of the time. We’re both on our computers. It’s totally insane and for the most part I love it:) But then you gotta sleep till noon, which sucks too. Yin and yang:)

Facebook is my time suck, along with the virtual world on there, Yoville, and various and sundry games I play. I really don’t know where in the hell the time goes, honestly.

Glad to hear it’s not the Tempurpedic. I think sleeping in separate rooms is just a heinous thing & could never go for that!

I sent you an email, Pam! :D
