more trees!

I made some more Christmas tree pins today.  I decided to try mixing some pretty colors as an alternative to the bright red and green.  These ones are actually more my style:

giving thanks

My first married Thanksgiving.  We are staying home by ourselves and I’m cooking somewhat of a mini-replica of what normal people are probably having.  I’m roasting a small turkey breast and making broccolli and sweet potatoes, and we’ll have boxed stuffing.  I bought refrigerated cookie dough to make for dessert.  That’s our low-key, nobody-to-impress, easygoing [...]

sculpey pins

Thank you all for the comments on my little pug figurine!  I really appreciated them, and thank you all for being kind.
My project today was Christmas tree pins!  These were fun to make, and easier than the pug.  After baking the sculpey, I applied a layer of glitter glaze and superglued a pin back to the [...]

sculpey pug #2

Okay, I just made another one and had to run and take a picture so I could compare them!  For this second attempt, I both simplified it and made it more detailed at the same time, kinda sorta.  I blended some areas better and put more detail on the legs but simplified the facial features [...]

sculpey pug

Here’s a little pug dog I made last night that I hoped to give to Josh’s mom, who has four real ones and loves anything pug.  It didn’t come out quite as I had envisioned it, of course, but hopefully it is at least recognizable as a pug:

These little photos are larger than actual size.  He’s pretty tiny, which is [...]

day off

I had the day off today!  While I was out running errands (who ever really has the day off?) I picked up stuff to make rice crispy treats.  I was inspired by my friend, Teeni, who made this adorable Rice Crispy Man yesterday, and I could not get the crispy craving out of my system without [...]

hang in there, Woody

This is Woody, my best friend’s dachshund.  He’s been sick lately and the vet is worried.  He goes in again tomorrow to get fluids, which he’s been getting off and on for the past couple of weeks.
My friend (a stranger to this blog) is distraught, as this is her baby.  He’s been with her through a [...]

let the f*$#ers eat cake

Whenever someone at work has a birthday, the whole place gets to eat cake.
Except for me.
The first couple of times I was offered cake, I was in the middle of grooming a dog and couldn’t stop for cake, so I politely declined.  I was told it would be in the break room if I wanted it [...]

why i’m so tired

It’s impossible to sleep through this every morning beginning about 5 a.m.  I’m seriously considering locking her in the basement at night from now on…
Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow?  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow?  Meow?  Meow?  Meow.  Meow?  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Meow?  [...]

pics finally in

I got some more pictures from my wedding, which now seems like ancient history, although it hasn’t been two weeks yet.  Anyway, I figured I’d post a few of my favorites.  Here goes…
Here is Mom and D at the rehearsal.  Aren’t they both just adorable?

Sometimes they dress like regular people:

Josh and his two best men [...]
